Transition

Today, we finally had time to catch our breath after a hectic week of sorting, packing and shipping. We've lost track of how what is going where or has been trashed and will only find out on Nov 1 when sea freight is delivered. We're now in temporary accommodation in transition as we move into our final week in Singapore. This is feeling like a good arrangement because while we've left home, we're still in familiar surroundings.

As we packed, decision making was a simple two option process - keep or throw, but the process of making those decisions are beyond complex. Photos of BBQs at East Coast Park? Scan then throw. Old school badges? Erm erm erm...ok...small items so lets keep them. Autograph book from Sec 4? Arghhh. Too major a milestone so better keep. Song book from JC? Many memories of singing in the band corner...keep lah. Giant zip lock bag of all the bottles of medication I took for my benign pituitary gland tumor? Hmmm has potential to be turned into an art piece so let's keep it.

The decision is complex because of the experiences and relationships.

This last week will be full on catch-ups and goodbyes - creating more memories and buttressing those relationships. This morning, we met with another two friends from junior college and it was such a warm feeling to be able to see them in person again. Twenty years of friendship exactly...we seemed the same yet not the same. It's still the familiar feeling of yonder but with a greater sense of comfort that comes with maturity I guess.

This week will also be about making lists - what official stuff we've to do before we leave...and also about what we want to do when we get there. I know I want to make snow caterpillars when the time comes :o) Can't wait!!
